List of South Africa Radio station contact details and information:
If you’re a musician, getting your music on the radio is a great way to get exposure and reach new fans. But how do you go about getting your music played on South African radio stations?
Here are a few tips:
1. Do your research
Before you start contacting radio stations, it’s important to do your research and find out which stations are most likely to play your type of music. There’s no point wasting time and effort contacting a station that only plays classical music if you’re in a rock band!
2. Make sure your recordings are of good quality
Radio stations receive hundreds of submissions from musicians every week, so you need to make sure that your recordings are of high quality if you want them to take notice. Invest in professional recording equipment or hire a reputable studio to record your tracks.
3. Contact the right people at the radio station
It’s no use sending your demo CD to the receptionist! Find out who the Music Director or Program Director is at each station and send your submission directly to them. Include a brief bio about yourself and your band, as well as links to where they can listen to more of your music online.
4. Follow up after sending your submission
Once you’ve sent off your demos, don’t just sit back and wait for the phone to ring! Follow up with each station after a week or two to make sure they received your submission and ask if they have any feedback for you. Be polite and persistent, but don’t be a nuisance – nobody likes being hounded by salespeople!
5. Keep trying until you succeed!
Getting airplay on the radio takes time, patience, and perseverance. Don’t give up if you don’t get an immediate response – keep submitting new material regularly until somebody bites. And once you do get that first spin on the radio, make sure you capitalise on it by promoting it heavily through social media and other channels.
